Connell, who headed up the insolvency team at Fladgate Fielder, will join Barlows’ corporate practice next month as a partner, where he will specialise in insolvency work.
Connell joined Fladgate Fielder in 2000 with a brief to develop an insolvency and restructuring practice. Prior to that he was a partner at the legacy Hobson Audley, now part of
Barlows said the appointment was part of a push to develop the firm’s insolvency and corporate practices in response to client demand.
Commenting on his move, Connell said: “Barlows has a bigger team and the synergy between my practice and their practice is exciting. They have greater strength in numbers.”

Fladgate Fielder has previously been in expansive form of late, having made three senior hires since April, with litigation partner Paul Howcroft and corporate finance partners Julian Lewis and Grant Gordon all joining the firm.
Fladgate Fielder corporate partner Charles Wander said: “We are very sorry to see [Connell] go; he will be greatly missed. We have had, however, many people joining us.”
