The veteran litigator, who joins CCC after nine years as a partner at Barlows, is to oversee the group’s entire legal function, including monitoring compliance and managing the group’s relationships with outside counsel.
CCC specialises in raising capital for and advising on low-carbon and renewable energy projects. Robert-Tissot’s arrival makes him the most senior lawyer to work in-house at CCC since the departure last year of Anthony Hobley, the general counsel of its carbon-trading fund, for Norton Rose.
During his time at CCC, Hobley established a reputation as one of the leading UK lawyers in the emerging field of climate change and carbon trading law.
CCC does not operate a formal panel but has longstanding relationships with Norton Rose and Hobley’s former firm, Baker & McKenzie. Norton Rose remains one of CCC’s main legal advisers after securing a role with the boutique investment bank on the formation of a £439m fund created to trade in carbon dioxide emissions.
Robert-Tissot said: “I was looking to make a contribution to that important work [of arresting climate change]. I was delighted to find a job with CCC, who I regard as the leader in this field.”
CCC was formed in 2005 and has more than $1.5bn (£760m) in management. The group has raised capital for financing projects including renewable energy installations in the UK, destroying industrial gases in India and China and waste-to-energy projects in China and Hungary.
