Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft has announced its latest round of partner promotions, with the US firm electing seven lawyers to its partnership, including one in London.
City-based capital markets lawyer Nick Shiren is the firm’s only lawyer outside New York to be promoted this year. His practice focuses on securitisation transactions involving asset classes such as residential and commercial mortgages, credit cards and leases.
His appointment brings the number of partners at Cadwalader’s UK base to 15, six of whom are capital markets specialists. Last year the Manhattan firm promoted two new partners in London.
The six new partners in New York include lawyers in the firm’s finance, litigation, capital markets, tax and competition teams. The promotions are effective from 1 January, 2007.
Cadwalader becomes the latest US firm to announce its new partner promotions, with New York rival LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae last week promoting five associates to partner, including two at its City arm.
