Proof that the in-house side of the profession really is attracting the top names this week reaches The Diary, which can reveal that the City’s most famous private practitioner has quietly made the jump.

The man in question is, of course, ex-Norton Rose solicitor Bradley Chait, who lawyers will remember hit the headlines thanks to an e-mail exchange that left little to the imagination.

Chait received an e-mail from a girlfriend in which she detailed her enjoyment of a sexual encounter between the pair, which generated the celebrated legend: "Yours was yum".

Chait promptly forwarded the e-mail to his friends, which proved such a hit that the missive ended up being sent to millions of inboxes the world over.

In a rather neat sequel to the story, it has emerged that Chait has now joined Siemens.

Rumours that Ann Summers and Hugh Hefner were keen to hire his legal expertise are unfounded, however.
