Bevan Brittan has formally concluded its redundancy programme with six fee earners – including two Birmingham salaried partners specialising in licensing and tax work – set to leave the firm.

The firm has also announced a new head of its Birmingham office with head of health – Steve Hughes – set to replace Sharon McCann who is leaving the firm.

Commenting on the move, a Bevan Brittan spokesperson said: “Our strategy for the next phase of growth is clear – namely to deepen these areas of leadership and to build on our current client portfolio. Steve’s arrival and his enviable experience in the health market is a clear signal of our commitment to deliver this.

“We are winning market share from our more traditional competitors in the health market through a combination of our deep market knowledge, innovation and superlative client service.”

News of the management change comes as Bevan Brittan confirmed two further unrelated departures from the Birmingham office. Melanie Print, a partner in the health practice, is expected to leave the firm later this year while part-time consultant Richard Annandale is expected to leave later this month.

Bevan Brittan announced a formal redundancy consultation in May, stating that it could be making as many as 40 redundancies across its offices in Bristol, London and Birmingham.
