London office has appointed Clifford Atkins (

Ward will step down as the group head on 1 August to concentrate on his role as London office managing partner – as well as his position on the firm’s global policy committee.
Atkins joined Shearman in 1998 from top 10 City firm Ashurst and focuses on structured and leveraged finance.
Commenting on the appointment, Ward said: “Clifford is a highly respected and effective lawyer and has been integral to the European finance group’s ongoing development and success over the last ten years.”
Atkins added: “I am very much looking forward to this challenge and to working with my colleagues across Europe.”
In April, Ward took over the role as London office head from projects partner Kenneth MacRitchie, who returned to full-time fee earning.
Shearman’s London office has 26 partners and around 150 lawyers. Revenue at the office grew by around 15% in 2007 to a new high of $132.6m (£66.9m).
