Linklaters has appointed a new managing partner and head of finance to its Dubai office with the transfer of Sarosh Mewawalla to the region.

Finance and projects partner Mewawalla moves from Milan where he was co-managing partner alongside Andrea Arosio.

Ewan Cameron, who has been managing partner of the office since it opened in 2006, will become senior partner of the Middle East region while Mewawalla will assume the dual role of Dubai managing partner and local head of finance.

The news follows the recent election of two partners to the Dubai office – capital markets partner Richard Callaghan and Islamic finance partner Luma Saqqaf.

The reshuffle is part of the firm’s new strategy, dubbed Emerging Markets in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (EEMENA).

Nick Eastwell, EEMENA regional managing partner, said: "These steps reflect the firm’s growth and progression in Dubai and I am sure that Sarosh, alongside Ewan, will take the firm to even greater heights across the Middle East.

“His appointment, together with the recent elections of Richard and Luma, underlines the firm’s continued commitment to clients in the region and to our emerging markets strategy more broadly."
