The City firm’s new rates equates to a rise of around 3% on last year’s figure of £64,000 and puts the junior lawyers on par with those at firms including Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Meanwhile, first-seat trainees see their pay increase from £36,000 to £37,500, with second-year trainees pocketing £41,500 up from £40,000.
The new rates take effect from 1 July.
Camerons managing partner Duncan Weston said: “I am pleased to be able to announce these salary increases for our trainees and a 3% increase for our newly-qualified associates. While we are mindful of the current economic climate, we have had a successful year and we remain keen to offer highly competitive salaries on a par with the largest firms.”
Last week the firm announced preliminary details of its financial results with turnover increasing to £235m and partner profits jumping by 29% to £655,000.
On the basis of its financial performance, Camerons will be paying a firm-wide bonus to all staff equating to 5% of salary.
