Bird & Bird has reported a revenue hike of almost 25% for the last financial year, with the firm today announcing that fee income hit £143m for the year ending 30 April, 2008.

The top 25 firm has posted a 24% hike in turnover, equating to a £27.4m increase on last year’s figure of £115.6m.

The results put Bird & Bird among the strongest performers of the year so far and means revenues grew more this year than last year, when the firm reported a 19.5% increase in turnover.

Other strong performers include Field Fisher Waterhouse - which reported turnover growth of 30% to hit £88m - and Herbert Smith and Norton Rose, where revenues grew by 25% and 27% respectively.

Bird & Bird chief executive officer David Kerr said: “The financial performance is very encouraging and we are well placed to see continued growth by way of our strategy of targeted international expansion.”

Last month Bird & Bird announced its biggest-ever partnership round, making up a record 14 associates to partner. The promotions took the partnership to 187 overall.
