The 47-year-old lawyer, was also a member of the transatlantic firm’s global board, will join the pharmaceutical company on 23 June after 11 years with DLA Piper.
She will join the company’s executive leadership team and will report directly to Pfizer’s chairman and chief executive Jeffrey Kindler. Pfizer is a client of both DLA Piper and Schulman.
The bulk of Schulman’s highly coveted practice will transfer to DLA Piper partners Loren Brown and Heidi Levine in New York and the Baltimore-based John Dougherty, who have worked alongside Schulman on all her client accounts. However, the firm has yet to name her replacement on the global board.

“Her knowledge of the legal, business and regulatory challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry and her experience tackling large, complex cases make her uniquely qualified to lead Pfizer’s legal team.”
Schulman also serves on the board of directors of the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Equal Justice Works, and is on the steering committee of DRI Drug and Medical Device.
