Commercial leads way as Olswang income climbs 11%

Olswang has seen an 11% hike in revenues over the last financial year with its 2007-08 turnover hitting £92.4m at the year-end.

The increase means Olswang’s revenue grew by just over £9m from £83.1m the previous year to the new high.

By practice area the firm singled out its commercial sector as one of the best performers, with the group seeing a 28% rise in revenues. Corporate also performed strongly putting, with turnover for the practice growing by around 12% on last year. The firm’s Berlin office, which opened last year, is also thought to have performed well.

Over the year, the corporate practice, which also includes finance, accounted for 35% of the firm’s workload, while the commercial group made up 25%. The firm’s litigation and real estate teams made up the remaining 25% and 15% respectively.

Commenting on the results, Olswang chief executive Kevin Munslow said: "Olswang continues to grow steadily year on year. Our results this year confirm a pattern of consistent growth which has enabled the firm to double its revenues over the last five years."

The firm has not yet confirmed a figure for its profits per equity partner (PEP). Last year PEP hit £561,000 after growing by 5.6%.
