Scots giant Maclay Murray & Spens has announced the promotion of four new partners, with the firm’s offices in Edinburgh and London picking up two promotions apiece.

Corporate lawyer Brian Moore steps up to partner and will relocate from Glasgow to Edinburgh, where property specialist Alan Stewart also gets the nod.

Guy Norfolk becomes a partner in the City corporate team, working with the financial services group, while the final promotion sees Chris Vause become the firm’s dedicated banking and finance partner based in London.

Commenting on the promotions, which bring the number of partners at the big four Scots firm to 77, Maclays chief executive Magnus Swanson said: “It is highly satisfactory to be able to recognise and reward the efforts of such a capable group of lawyers through these well-deserved promotions. As a firm committed to profitable growth, it is particularly significant that half of these lawyers joined us as trainees.”

He added: “From a strategic viewpoint, the appointments cover all of our geographical locations and a good range of our departments. In that respect, they are a reflection of our very robust performance to date and our confidence in the future.”

Meanwhile, the firm has also promoted 10 lawyers to associate – five in Edinburgh, three in London and two in Glasgow.
