Pannone has broken through the £50m turnover barrier for the first time after fee income rose by nearly a fifth at the northwest stalwart.

Total revenues at the firm jumped up by 18% according to the firm’s 2007-08 financial results, up from £42.8m for the previous year.

Commenting on the results, Pannone managing partner Steven Grant said: “This has been an excellent year for us in a number of ways. A strong financial performance right across the firm has resulted in us exceeding our income targets and achieving over £50million turnover for the first time.”

He added: “This is testament to the great efforts made by all our staff and is, I believe, a direct consequence of our long term strategy of attracting and retaining talented lawyers and support staff.”

The news comes after a year when Grant took over as managing partner from longstanding chief Joy Kingsley (pictured), who stepped up to the role of senior partner.

Further highlights for the firm include again emerging as the highest-placed law firm in The Sunday Times' latest 100 Best Companies to Work For survey, announced earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the firm revealed a bumper haul of new partners in its 2008 round of promotions, with nine making the step up to salaried partner status, three of whom are women.

Meanwhile, Cobbetts has posted a £1m increase in turnover for 2007-08 to reach to £59m, while City outfit Davies Arnold Cooper posted a 17% increase in fee income to £37.3m, up from £32m for the previous 12-month period.
