The figure represents a significant drop from last year’s tally of nine.
Robert Fell is promoted in litigation, with funds specialist Sam Kay and corporate finance lawyer Anthony Foster also getting the nod. Helen Croke is promoted in the firm’s key private equity practice, which last week saw Phil Sanderson confirmed as the successor to current group head Charles Barter.
Croke is the only woman promoted to partner this year.
Of the four, three were trainees at Travers, with Fell having joined the firm two years ago from magic circle giant Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
The quartet will join the partnership on 1 July, bringing the total number of partners at the firm to 67.
Travers becomes one of the last major London firms to announce details of its 2008 partnership round, with top 10 City outfit Simmons & Simmons yesterday (7 May) announcing that it is to promote 18 new partners, effective from the beginning of this month.
