Arnold & Porter is launching a London employment practice with the hire of a partner from rival US firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.

Henry Clinton-Davis will lead the new group at Arnold & Porter, having previously headed up WilmerHale’s London employment team.

He has a cross-border employment practice advising clients on all aspects of employment law, including severance contracts, redundancies and disciplinary hearings. Many of his clients are in the US with a particular emphasis on the pharmaceuticals, life sciences and technology sectors.

His hire will take the number of partners at Arnold & Porter's London arm to 13.

Arnold & Porter City chief Tim Frazer commented: “Henry is a welcome addition to our London office. His broad employment counseling and litigation expertise will expand the level of comprehensive services we offer to corporate clients in the UK and Europe, as well as for US-based clients with global business needs.”

Earlier this year Arnold & Porter hired Paula Levitan as a partner in its City corporate practice. Levitan had previously served as the vice president and associate general counsel of retail chain Gap and as general counsel of Body Shop International.

However, the office did not gain any new partners in the firm’s latest partnership promotion round, with Arnold & Porter making up just four new partners – three in Washington DC and one in New York.
