The majority of the promotions are spread across the firm’s international network, with four new partners coming in

Just five of the new partners are women, three of whom are based in the City.
The corporate and capital markets practices were the main beneficiaries by practice, picking up seven and five new partners respectively.
The announcement represents a significant drop from last year’s partnership round, when Linklaters made up 38 lawyers to partner, including 15 in the City. The firm will have 540 partners when the promotions take effect.
Meanwhile, Linklaters has also promoted 30 managing associates and two managing professional support lawyers to the role of counsel, effective from 1 May.
Senior partner David Cheyne (pictured) said: “Our new partners and counsel are an exceptional group of people and on behalf of everyone at the firm I would like to congratulate them on their promotions. The appointments reflect the breadth and depth of expertise across the firm and highlight our commitment to investing in our practices globally to meet client demand.”
The news puts Linklaters in line with City rival Allen & Overy, which also promoted 28 new partners this year. Arch rival Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, meanwhile, promoted 25 while Clifford Chance earlier this month made up 35 new partners.
