Nabarro is the latest firm to announce its partnership promotions for 2008, with the top 20 City firm giving five associates the thumbs-up.

The figure marks a slight drop from last year’s total of seven promotions.

Three of the latest promotions come in the firm’s core real estate practice, with one apiece in tax and employment. Of the seven that got the nod last year, three were in real estate.

Sheffield-based property lawyer Chris Chambers is the only new partner made up outside London.

Fellow real estate specialists Marie Scott and Darren Solzenberg are promoted in the City, with Nick Burt (tax) and Catherine Richmond (employment) completing the line-up. The promotions will take Nabarro’s total partnership to 131 as of 1 May.

The news comes after rival City firm Olswang last month announced it was making up a record 10 new partners – the most in the firm’s history.

Other City outfits to have unveiled their promotions thus far include CMS Cameron McKenna, which made up 11, and Herbert Smith, which promoted 18 new partners.

Elsewhere, US giant Skadden Arps Meagher and Flom today (3 April) promoted 25 to its global partnership, with three coming in London. Fellow US firm Hunton & Williams, meanwhile, gave the nod to 11 new partners worldwide, one of whom is based in the City.
