The vote was passed on Monday (31 March) and Skipper will take up his second three-year term on 12 April.
His role includes overall leadership of the global corporate practice, competition, European Union and trade group, the tax practice and the share incentives and executive compensation team.
Skipper will also retain his place on the firm’s international executive, which develops the firm’s worldwide strategy.
Skipper told Legal Week: “The objective over the next few years is to move the international team on and continue to do the top deals that we have been doing this year.
“The first three years have been about building the practice and now we can move forward from that solid base.
It is thought that the firm currently has no plans to fill Hugh Nineham’s former role as head of corporate finance following his departure to McDermott Will & Emery in January.
Skipper’s reappointment follows last month’s promotion by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer of Mark Rawlinson to lead the firm’s corporate group. Rawlinson, who took over from Tim Jones in the role on 1 April, is set to give management responsibilities to a wider team of partners within the group — appointing up to eight partners to help manage the practice.
