Pinsent Masons has made up 17 lawyers to its partnership, the national heavyweight announced today (31 March).

The new appointments, which are effective from 1 May, grow the national firm’s total partnership to 301. The number falls just short of last year’s record total of 20 new partners.

Partners were made up across seven of the firm’s eight practice groups, with projects and construction the biggest winner with six new partners. Property received three promotions, while banking and corporate saw two promotions apiece. The umbrella employment, pensions and tax group also picked up a brace of new partners.

Commenting on the appointments, Pinsents managing partner David Ryan said: “These individuals have demonstrated outstanding talent, enthusiasm and a strong track record.

"It is an encouraging reflection not only on them but also on the health of our business, the strength of our reputation across a number of disciplines and our expanding international footprint that the successful candidates span seven of our eight practice groups and seven of our 11 offices in Asia Pacific and the UK.”

The news follows the announcement by Wragge & Co that it is promoting nine lawyers to its partnership, while key national rivals Eversheds, DLA Piper and Addleshaw Goddard have yet to play their hand.
