CMS Cameron McKenna and its European alliance of firms have rubber-stamped plans to integrate the network and work more closely together.

Camerons informed its partners this morning (12 February) that the nine CMS member firms had all voted in favour of closer integration and alignment.

Outgoing Camerons managing partner Dick Tyler is set to take on the role of CMS executive partner to spearhead the initiative.

Tyler will take on his new role at the end of his term in April. He succeeds Robert Derry-Evans, who is set to retire in September, having held the executive partner position since 2003.

Under the convergence programme the CMS firms will be developing common standards and procedures including a new conflicts policy. The CMS firms will continue to operate as separate legal entities under their existing names but more emphasis will be placed on the CMS brand.

CMS says its referral work has grown by nearly 30% since the network was established in 1999, contributing to a combined fee income in 2007 of nearly €750m (£559m).

Derry-Evans commented: “With a strong European identity and this quickening of our development, CMS is well placed to advise clients across Europe. There is a great opportunity for us to develop a distinctive European offering.”
