City boutique Edwin Coe has boosted its insolvency and property teams after securing the hire of two partners.

Property specialist Carolyn West joins Edwin Coe from Davies Arnold Cooper, where she was a partner. West, who expects a number of clients to follow her to Edwin Coe, has more than 20 years’ experience in the house-building sector, with a particular focus on land acquisition and development.

Simeon Gilchrist, meanwhile, joined Edwin Coe as a partner in the insolvency team at the end of last year. Gilchrist previously worked at London firm Druces & Attlee, where he was an equity partner. His practice covers commercial litigation as well as insolvency and restructuring work.

Commenting on his change of firms, Gilchrist said: “I’d been at Druces for 10 or 11 years, on and off, and had different ideas about running an insolvency practice so it was a good time to move on.”

The appointments bring the number of partners at Edwin Coe, which last year reported annual turnover of around £12m, to 25.

Last year the firm also joined the ranks of commercial UK practices to have converted to a limited liability partnership.
