The board has named Vickers in a role that will see him focus on Ashurst’s 127-lawyer European leveraged finance team which works with clients such as Royal Bank of
He will be responsible for overseeing issues including recruitment, training and know-how across the European offices, as well as co-ordinating client relationships across the region.
Vickers will continue to work closely with Ashurst’s overall head of international finance, Nigel Ward, whose role will not change.
He told Legal Week: “I have enjoyed participating in the strategic management of the business during the past four years, but I am very much looking forward to my new role, which is designed to accelerate the integration of the firm’s European finance practice.”
