Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has bolstered its employment and pensions group with the hire of a senior partner from West End outfit Fladgate Fielder, it was announced today (13 November).

Adam Lambert, who headed up the employment team at Fladgate Fielder, is set to join the top 40 UK law firm in the coming months.

His practice covers complex tribunal and appeal courts cases as well as advising on a wide range of human resources issues, including international transfers of undertakings and large-scale redundancies.

It is not yet known whether Fladgate Fielder has lined up a replacement for Lambert, who joined the firm less than two years ago.

Commenting on the appointment, Barlows senior partner Richard Dedman said: “We have made yet another great hire here in Adam, who will add depth and breadth to our already robust and successful employment team. He's a great addition to our recent hires within the employment department and the wider corporate and commercial team – Jon Yorke, James Parker and Andrew Giverin.”

The news comes with Barlows battling to regain the initiative after suffering a setback last month when high-profile commercial litigation chief Clare Canning quit for US firm Mayer Brown alongside fellow litigation partners Simon Willis and Matthew Lawson.

However, Barlows’ employment practice, which is headed by partner Rob Hill, has expanded considerably over the past 18 months, having almost doubled its turnover during that period.
