Clyde & Co has hired Denton Wilde Sapte’s former Oman managing partner Andrew Watson, the firm announced yesterday (24 October).

The corporate finance partner, who left Dentons in May 2006 for Consultant Lawyers Direct, joins Clyde & Co’s Abu Dhabi office.

Watson focuses on telecommunications and regulatory work. His appointment brings the number of partners the firm has in the Middle East to 15.

Clyde & Co Abu Dhabi chief Niall O’Toole said: “Andrew is no stranger to the region and his experience in such matters as the Omantel IPO helps to increase our strength in depth in what is a fast growing market.“

The hire is the latest attempt by Clyde & Co to boost its presence in the region. Other recent notable moves include opening in Qatar with the hire of a consultant from Simmons & Simmons.

Clyde & Co has 18 offices worldwide, including operations in Dubai and Doha.
