Eversheds is preparing to make up to 20 staff redundancies across its UK network as part of a restructuring of its support functions.

The national giant will hold discussions with staff working in its financial operations team over the next month and hopes to complete the process by the spring.

The move follows a sweeping review led by Eversheds financial director Claire Hafner in which the firm decided to centralise its finance operations, which currently exist in each office.

Some affected staff will be given the opportunity to relocate to other offices.

In a statement, the national firm said: “These [new functions] will be based in London, Cardiff, Birmingham and Leeds and enable these newly-centralised financial operations teams to serve the entire firm in a more consistent and robust fashion.”

Eversheds’ financial operations team is the largest of five divisions within its umbrella finance department and covers revenue and credit control, billing, cashiering, purchase ledger, payroll and
procurement.

UK managing partner Bryan Hughes told Legal Week: “This is an integration issue that has not been right at the top of the list, but things have been going very well across the business and it is time to have a look at it.”
