Baker & McKenzie has re-elected global chairman John Conroy for a second term at the helm following a partnership vote in London, where the firm is holding its partnership conference.

During the conference Conroy, who will now serve a further three-year stint, has also unveiled the firm’s new three-year strategy to Bakers’ 700 partners.

Chicago-based Conroy took on the role in 2004 from high-profile former head Christine Lagarde, having previously held a place on the executive committee as well as being North American managing partner.

During his tenure, Conroy has overseen significant growth at Bakers, with partner profits last year breaking the $1m (£502,000) mark for the first time after the firm recorded a 20% profit rise for 2006.

The firm’s London office also recorded robust numbers for last year. Average profits per equity partner (PEP) at Bakers’ City office reached a new high of £600,000 last year, while revenues also climbed to a new record of £112m.
