Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has poached rated Taylor Wessing corporate partner Richard Pike, who will join the top 40 firm later this month.

Pike is qualified in the UK and France and has acted for a number of overseas clients, including most recently German pharmaceutical company Stada Arzneimittel on its £38m acquisition of Forum Bioscience Holdings.

Barlows senior partner Richard Dedman said: “Richard is the latest in a list of significant hires we have made over the past year in our very busy corporate and commercial teams – and joins recent appointments Jon Yorke, James Parker and Andrew Giverin.”

Giverin and Parker were associates at Latham & Watkins and Lovells respectively, both of who joined the firm as partners this year. Restructuring partner Yorke joined the firm at the end of last year from legacy firm Richards Butler.

However, the hire is set against a backdrop of a number of recent departures from the firm, including Barlows’ three remaining outsourcing partners from its commercial and technology group at the end of last year.

As revealed on legalweek.com (27 September), the firm was also hit last week by the departure of litigation partner Clare Canning, alongside commercial litigation partners Simon Willis and Matthew Lawson.
