White & Case has announced its new management teams with London partners initially missing out on any firmwide leadership positions.

The US firm’s newly-elected chairman Hugh Verrier has appointed three partners to the decision-making executive committee – Istanbul-based corporate and financial services partner Asli Basgoz and New York partners Dimitrios Drivas (litigation and intellectual property) and Tony Kahn (corporate and financial services).

The four will work closely with the firm’s new partnership committee which comprises Ian Forrester (Brussels), Tim Goodell (New York), Petri Haussila (Helsinki), David Koschik (New York), Carolyn Lamm (Washington) and Jan Matejcek (Prague).

The appointments mean that no-one from the firm’s UK or German operations are currently represented at management level.

The new management structure, which was approved by partners earlier this year, came into effect today (1 October).

Both Basgoz and Kahn were initially voted by partners onto the partnership committee but stood down when they were appointed onto the executive. The firm’s partnership agreement meant at least one of the members of the executive had to be selected from the partnership committee, so further elections are now underway to find two replacement members.

The additional election – expected to be decided within the next two weeks – means that London, which is the firm’s second biggest office outside New York, could still gain representation on the committee which is split into a compensation committee and a new partners committee.

Verrier said: “Asli, Dimitrios and Tony have diverse backgrounds that reflect our firm’s global strength. They will work with me to ensure we are focused on the core elements of our business – clients, people and teamwork."
