Sidley Austin has promoted 36 associates to its partnership, three of whom are based in its London office, the Chicago giant announced yesterday (30 July).
City-based structured finance and securitisation trio Jonathan Edge, Theresa Kradjian and Paul Matthews all join the firm’s partnership. Their promotions take the number of partners at Sidley’s City arm to 41.
The bulk of the promotions come in the firm’s US heartland, with 11 made up in Chicago and a further seven promoted in New York. Overall, 29 new partners were made up in the US, with lawyers in Sidley’s Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Tokyo offices also given the nod.
The 1700-lawyer firm now has a total of 659 partners.
The London promotions follows the hire of Kendall Freeman contentious insurance partner Dorothy Cory-Wright, who joined Sidley’s City arm earlier this month.
Cory-Wright, who had been a partner at Kendall Freeman since 1991, will head up Sidley’s fledgling London insurance and reinsurance disputes group, formed earlier this year.
