Halliwells has recruited two new corporate partners to beef up its
London office as the firm continues to invest in the capital.
Private equity lawyer Steven Raize joins the national law firm from London practice Fladgate Fielder, where he was also a partner. He joined Fladgates in 2005 after a spell at the local arm of global giant Baker & McKenzie.
Catherine Moss has also joined Halliwells this month from the Dubai arm of top 20 UK firm Clyde & Co, where she was a partner in the local corporate team.
Moss, who is experienced in Sharia-compliant transactional work for both UK and Middle Eastern clients, has relocated to London to take up her new role.
Both Moss and Raize will now work with Halliwells’ London corporate chief Julian Lewis as part of a 27-partner office in the capital.
The appointments are the latest evidence of a concerted drive by Halliwells in London. The firm has made a string of lateral hires with a particular focus on corporate, real estate and dispute resolution.
Squire Sanders & Dempsey corporate partner Martin Walsh joined the national firm’s 19-lawyer local corporate team earlier this year while Nabarro London banking partner Kim McMurray arrived last year.
Last year, the top 50 UK firm unveiled plans to double its revenues by aiming for fee income of £128m by 2011.
Halliwells managing partner Ian Austin said: “These arrivals demonstrate our commitment to building a top-tier corporate capability in
London. We will continue to focus heavily on investment in our City office this year.”
