Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has appointed 36 associates to a new ‘director’ role as the City firm continues to engage associates on retention-improving measures.

The 36 directors have been appointed across a wide range of practice areas, including: corporate; commercial; casualty; aerospace; marine energy and trade; professional liability and commercial litigation; employment and pensions; and reinsurance and international risk.

Barlows senior partner Richard Dedman said: “This new role is aimed at empowering and rewarding our more experienced associates.”

The move comes after Barlows hired external consultant Adrian Lenard to help the top 30 UK practice engage with its associates on issues covering job satisfaction and work-life balance.

The firm, which converted to a limited liability partnership in May, is also undertaking a series of initiatives aimed at boosting its profile with clients and has taken on Clint Evans from Henley Management College as chief executive. Evans begins in his new role next month.
