Hill Dickinson and Irwin Mitchell have become the latest national firms to unveil robust financial results.

Northwest stalwart Hill Dickinson has announced one of the largest rises yet seen by a major UK firm, with revenue up by 30% to hit £68.4m.

The 152-partner firm’s fraud team saw the most significant increase with a 52% surge in annual revenues while insurance, commercial litigation and the marine practice also posted double-digit growth.

The results come after Hill Dickinson last year brokered a merger with London shipping boutique Hill Taylor Dickinson, which split off from the northwest firm in 1989.

Meanwhile, Irwin Mitchell has also recorded solid growth with fee income at the top 25 UK firm up 13% from £112m last year to hit £127m.

The negligence and insurance specialist this year secured its second merger in 12 months, with Scots practice Golds, after the firm sealed a tie-up with personal injury and clinical negligence specialist Alexander Harris in 2006.

A number of national firms have announced strong rises so far this year, including Osborne Clarke.
