CMS Cameron McKenna has decided to grant all its employees an extra day’s holiday as part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations.
In celebration of a decade since the merger between Cameron Markby Hewitt and McKenna & Co in 1997, the City firm has told its entire staff to take their birthday, or a day near to their birthday, off this year.
The brainchild of managing partner Dick Tyler, the celebrations also saw several hefty birthday cakes brought to Camerons’ Mitre House headquarters on 1 May.
Tyler commented: “Everyone has a birthday, and we would like it to be extra special this year, just like ours.”
Although the Camerons merger went live on 1 May, 1997, the firm traces its history back 228 years to 1779 with founding firms W H Crowder and S Wadeson.
More recent developments include Camerons’ merger with Hayhurst Robinson at
the beginning of 2006, expanding its reach in Eastern Europe.
The firm has also recently opened offices in Sofia, Bratislava and Shanghai.
Camerons now has offices across Eastern and Western Europe as well as outposts in Casablanca, Montevideo, Sao Paulo and Bristol.
The firm recently reintroduced salaried partners, having previously bucked the trend by introducing an all-equity partnership, partly to bed down the 1997 merger.
