Unsettling times for the stellar legal team at NASA, as Florida senator Bill Nelson calls for the resignation of general counsel Mike Wholley.

Wholley — who allegedly took it upon himself to destroy records of a meeting to stop sensitive information falling into the nefarious hands of the general public — has been slammed by furious lawmaker Nelson for creating a “dysfunctional relationship” between various branches of the impoverished agency. Wholley told congressional investigators last month that the documents were not official records and he was not guilty of any wrongdoing, having destroyed the recordings to prevent their disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.

Maybe Wholley was feeling a little (ahem) spaced out after the news that NASA was pulling the plug on its revolutionary gadgets arm, the Institute for Advanced Concepts, knowing full well that this would deprive his legal team of such visionary in-house tools as the Value-Adding Gamma Ray, the Unbreakable Glass Ceiling and the BlackBerry.
