Debevoise promotes London duo to equity as Watson Farley adds nine new partners

Debevoise & Plimpton has promoted two City lawyers to its partnership out of five new additions globally.

The London partners are corporate associate John Rife (pictured right) and international dispute resolution counsel Samantha Rowe (pictured left).

The three other new partners are based in the firm’s New York office.

The promotions will take effect 1 July 2018.

Last year, Debevoise made up one London lawyer to partner out of three globally.

Meanwhile, Watson Farley & Williams has promoted nine lawyers to its partnership, with a third made up in London.

Real estate associate Louise Kyle, finance associate George Macheras and asset finance associate Patrick Smith have been promoted in the City office.

Meanwhile, the firm’s New York base has seen two new partners join its ranks, while there has been a promotion apiece in Milan, Dubai, Madrid and Bangkok.

All the promotions came into effect from 1 May.

In 2017, Watson Farley added six lawyers to its partnership, with four in London and two in Hamburg.

Watson Farley co-managing partner Chris Lowe said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome talented new members to the partnership. I’m especially pleased that this year they span our UK, US, continental European, Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific offices, demonstrating the truly international nature of our firm.”
