Addleshaw Goddard makes up nine new partners in increased promotions round

Addleshaw Goddard has made up nine lawyers to partner, in a promotions round almost double the size of last year’s intake.

The nine promotions come after the firm last year made up five lawyers, in its smallest round since 2010.

As well as the seven promotions across the UK, the firm has also made up two partners in its Dubai outpost, which opened in 2012.

Four of this year’s new partners are female, comprising 44% of the group. Last year, all of the firm’s five new partners were male.

Three of the new partners are in corporate, including Marc Field in London, while the other two City promotions are employment lawyer Sarah Harrop and construction specialist Gerlando Butera.

The promotions, which take effect on 1 May, bring the total number of lawyers added to Addleshaw’s partnership in 2018, including lateral hires, to 20.

In March, the firm recruited a six-partner Manchester real estate team from Irwin Mitchell, a move that followed the appointment of an eight-strong construction team from DWF in February. The team included DWF’s national construction head Paul O’Kane and Manchester head Paul Barge, alongside six associates.

Senior partner Charles Penney commented: “Each of our new partners has already made a strong contribution to the firm, developing and growing our client relationships through their efforts across their specialist disciplines and sectors, and I hope they will play even more important roles as new partners in helping us to achieve our ambitions.”
